Come Stay at The Cliffhouse vacation Home Big Island, Hawaii

We spent a wonderful week here. Pool was quite chilly I must say but if you can stand that it works. The view is awesome, we saw several whales from the terrace every day. It is located on the “green” side of big island which we liked much more than Kona side. Also distances to all attractions are acceptable. Overall a very good choice, we’d come back in any case!

Ocean Soul is a unique property in an ideal location for exploring the Big Island. You are much closer to the Volcanoes National Park, the Waipio Valley, Akaka Falls, and the Black and Green Sand beaches than you would be in Kona or Waikoloa. Snorkeling and golf courses are also relatively close in Waimea and Kawaihae and Hawi (which is a beautiful drive) in about an hour. The house itself is architecturally beautiful although there are a few unusual furniture and appliance issues. The kitchen definitely could use a stove and refrigerator/freezer upgrade. The stove is gas but controlling the heat is tricky because your choices are basically high and medium, it’s difficult to simmer anything. The dining room table and chairs are not particularly utilitarian because the table is way too high for the average person. If you’re staying a week most of things don’t matter much but it you use the kitchen frequently it does take some getting used to. As for the rest of the home the beds and rooms are quite comfortable, all have ocean views. It is the views from this property that you simply will not be able to beat anywhere on the island. It blows away anything the Four Seasons could give you for about 1/5th the price and hearing the waves crash against your own beach every day never sucks. The master bedroom simply cannot be beat by any resort on the Big Island, I stand by that proclamation. The view alone is a reason to stay at Ocean Soul. The only reason I do not give this property a full 5 stars is it’s extremely difficult to find, especially in the dark. There is no visible address off of 19, the GPS can’t find it, Fed Ex couldn’t find it, and even after 3 weeks we all had issues finding it. Follow the directions very carefully would be my advice and when you show up do it during the daytime. It would behoove the management to have some marker in addition to the mirror closer to the driveway entrance off of 19. When you have to drive to Hilo because the Fed Ex driver cannot find your address it’s a bit of a problem. All this said I would highly recommended this house. It’s in by far the prettiest area on the Big Island, the location for exploring is excellent, and having that view is spectacular. If you want to sit on a beach and be closer to restaurants this place isn’t for you. However, if you truly want to see as much as possible on the big island and have a unparalleled experience looking at the ocean and stars this is it.

The home was immaculate the views of the ocean was seen from every room in the house the tropical birds that just fly around and walk along the hillside I so beautiful the personal and private swimming pool just adds to the relaxation of this home eye contact Stacy was super nice and so helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcome you have to try Donna’s cookies these are the best cookies I’ve ever had hands down you have to go to Grandma’s for breakfast the people are so friendly the home is so spacious I can’t wait to experience this again it was a once-in-a-lifetime vacation for me and it will always be remembered

House was very nice and any concerns where addressed right away. Some things have changed since the the photos our only regret is the kids wanted to swim in the pool at night but the pool heater wasn’t working and neither where the Tiki torches by the pool. Otherwise a great vacation.

The home is immaculate it has beautiful views of the ocean from every point in the house. Its a home you have to experience, the private pool off the ocean and the tropical birds that fly around made perfect pictures. Enjoyed my stay hoping to return in another year

We spent 10 days at this wonderful home. The view is priceless and was one of the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately the pool wasn’t heated and we weren’t able to spend any time there, but the land and the home is stunning. Jessica and Stacey were great. We were greeted upon arrival and given a quick orientation of the home. The drive way was challenging to find at night (check out Google Map street view before hand if you are arriving after dark) and is very narrow. We had two large SUVs which barely fit on the turnoff and down the steep driveway. We had a few maintenance issues with the home, but Jessica was quick to organize assistance. Two design flaws with the home include no privacy door for the master bathroom toilet/shower and the guest room bathtub wasn’t functional (it’s a wooden tub without a shower or curtain and wasn’t able to be used). Aside from those minor items – the home and vacation was fantastic. Would recommend the home to adults (not for families with children) and possibly not for elderly as there are unique stairs throughout the home.

Ocean Soul is spectacular. Its pricy, but worth every penny. You are completely secluded from all other people and your view is the ocean as far as the eye can see. We spent several nights at this property and I don’t have anything negative to stay. From pre-trip communication with Jessica to checking in with Stacey, everyone was friendly and professional. And the house is just truly amazing, the best place I’ve ever slept with nothing but the sound of birds and the ocean. We even saw whales from the master bedroom! We will be back. Thanks for the incredible weekend!

We only stayed 4 days but loved every day of our time here. The way the master bedroom hangs right on the edge of the cliff makes for the best view we have ever experienced on the Big Island (We have stayed in 4 other places, all with lovely views.)The house was very clean, and my husband will tell you that I am particular in that area. The kitchen had a good supply of utensils, pottery, and pots and pans. Also the essentials for basic cooking were already provided (basic spices, vinegar, and oil) which was a nice money saver. In addition, there was enough laundry detergent (and iron and ironing board) to do a few loads. The fact that a small country store and café are only two miles away is another big help. The store has a good selection of groceries and a nice café with wonderful staff, and great entertainment on various nights. In early March, the pool was chilly but still swimmable if you keep moving and since it is a lap pool, that is what you should be doing. The bottom surface of the pool could use a good scrubbing. The provided chaise lounges were very comfortable. The location of this house is best for trips North to Waiipo Valley or down to Hilo. It is a long jaunt to either Volcano National Park or Kailua-Kona and further south, but based on guest book entries many people do it. However, if you really want to enjoy this exceptional property with all of its wonderful privacy, plan your trip to stay close to home.

We stayed on the Big Island for 2 weeks and ended our stay with 3 days at this amazing home. It is truly a work of art. Waking up to the 180 degree view of the ocean is beyond compare! There’s a double shower in the master and a beautiful wood tub in one of the other baths. IT WAS AMAZING! We had our married son & his wife with us and our teenaged daughters. They loved the decks to watch the ocean and the pool to relax by. You will need to bring groceries with you as the nearest town is about 40 mins away but once you get there all the dishes, and cooking tools are there. We loved our stay here. It was the perfect end to our stay on the Big Island and we wished we’d stayed longer in this beautiful home. We watched a whale, turtle and school of dolphins from the deck off the kitchen. It was truly amazing. Waipio valley is not far away if you’re up for an amazing hike! And the pool is long enough for laps and beautiful enough to relax beside all day 🙂 We can’t wait to come back!

A wonderful home in an absolutely wonderful location! The view from the master is unbeatable… the ocean as far as the eye can see! We stayed at three houses while we were on the island, and this was the warmest of the bunch. There is air conditioning in the bedrooms, but some of the common areas get pretty warm during the day. Not to much of an issue, as when you get warm you can jump into the pool that has been very well maintained. All in all a wonderful home, located near waterfalls, amazing rock beaches, and all the amazing views the area has to offer!
